Temjai Cholsiri
b.1993, works and live in Bangkok, Thailand
Temjai Cholsiri is an installation artist and printmaker who uses the natural properties of materials as a medium to convey her ideas of awareness in beings. She creates human-scale sculptures and installations which utilise the techniques of balancing found-objects and industrial materials to reflect the experience of how humans perceive things in time and space.
Cholsiri graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Art (Printmaking) from Silpakorn University in 2016, and a Master of Fine Art in Contemporary Art from Edinburgh College of Art in 2018.
She has exhibited nationally and internationally in leading galleries and art institutes including MOCA BANGKOK, Stellite Gallery, Japan, Talbot Rice Gallery, Edinburgh, Bargehouse, London, and 16 Nicholson Street Gallery and Arts Collective, Glasgow. She received the Gold Medal Award, the 5th National Youth and Juvenile Art Exhibition (2010) and Silver Medal Award, the 33rd Exhibition of Contemporary Art by Young Artists (2016).
Temjai Cholsiri’s collection explores the split-second interval where a thought disrupts the tranquility of the mind, represented by a pebble hitting the surface of water. The resulting ripples evoke the image of water waves that are clear and obvious yet ultimately fleeting and ephemeral in nature.
